| Highlights of the April 2011, Congregation Council Meeting |
| posted 4/30/11 |
- The financial goal for the hot water heater was met
in a few days time.
- Fellowship Hall Requests:
Vicki Baldini – May 7 (9-3) for a bridal shower.
Powelsons – June 3 (4-7) for a graduation party.
Requests granted.
- Youth to Serve and Clean up for Graduation Party:
Annie Yeager will talk with Kevin Price about getting
the Youth Ministry together to do this service work.
- Resignation of our Organist/Pianist, Diane Aquino-Perez: Our wonderful organist needs to resign at the end of the month of May. She is resigning due to her many commitments – her work, her music at her own church on Saturdays, and her upcoming wedding.
- Faith Lutheran Church: Have accepted a Pastor who
will begin 5/15 (a seminarian). Asked Pastor Ken to preach one more time, which will be on May 1.
- Two regularly attending persons soon will be members of Trinity through the Affirmation of Faith.
- Quarters for World Hunger: Quarters will be collected and brought to the Synod Assembly to be donated
towards world hunger. An announcement about this
will be placed in the bulletin.
- Quarters for world hunger fit in mini M&M’s plastic containers, so M&M’s were shared with the Sunday School students on Palm Sunday along with a discussion and note about world hunger. Students are encouraged to put quarters in the containers after they eat the candy and return the containers to church before the Synod Assembly.
- The Council hopes that our church family will begin to look at the ministry area(s) in which they would like to serve. Please let a Council member know in which area you would be willing to help.
- A church clean-up day will be on Saturday, May 21. The time to be announced.
- Evangelism Ministry: working on “Quarters of World Hunger” project. Planning a Thank You/ Farewell Party for Diane Aquino-Perez.
- Staff Support Ministry: Needs to meet to advertise the organist job position
- Forward Planning Ministry: Jim Kippola is looking for
a survey template that has been used in the past.
It would be useful in designing a survey for 2011.
- Companion Congregation Ministry: The Companion Congregation Service will be on May 22. There will
be one service only on that Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
- A silent auction will be held during the month of May featuring items such as a handmade cribbage board, artwork, and an electric toothbrush
- Peter Johnson shared a gift bag that he received as a visitor at a church recently.
- Brian Anderson noted that he attended a meeting about the community garden near Grace Episcopal Church. He shared some details about this project. There had been an article about this initiative in the Tidings.
