A Prayer for a Church Building |
A Prayer for a Church Building
O God, make the door of this house wide enough to receive all who need human love and fellowship, and a heavenly Father’s care; and narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride, and hate.
Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling-block to children, nor to straying feet, but rugged enough to turn back the tempter’s power.
Make it a gateway to thine eternal kingdom. Amen.
Thomas Ken (1637-1711)

- Congratulations and best wishes are extended to our organist, Diane Aquino-Perez, who was recently engaged. A July 2011 wedding is being planned. Congratulations, Diane!
- TANZANIA 2010 Our Pastor will be traveling to Tanzania along with Bishop Tom and Luanne Skrenes and sons, David, Aaron and Jeff. Pastor Kenneth’s trip from July 3-20, 2010 will include a visit to Matumbi Lutheran Church, our companion congregation, as well as visiting diocese clinics, Kisarawe School, and a boarding school for handicapped children.
As you know, we have been fundraising for Pastor Kenneth’s trip for some time and we have reached our goal! During his trip, our support will be to lift him up in prayer continuously during his time away. Pastor Kenneth, and the entire group traveling, will be in our personal, private prayers, and prayed for in our Sunday morning worship.
We ask that you commit to a specific day—a 12 or 24-hour period—to offer prayers for Pastor Kenneth and the others. Prayers of guidance and safety; prayers for presence of the Holy Spirit; prayers for protection, etc. are located in the front of our hymnal, as well as the prayer pamphlets on the credenza in our entryway. Think about committing to a whole day of prayer. I’ll be praying on July 8. ~ Sue Boback
- Our Christian sympathy is extended to Gary and Vicki Baldini and family on the death of Vicki’s brother, Jack Koivula, who died on May 23 in Florida.
Our Christian sympathy is also extended Shawn Hatch and family on the death of her mother, Ann Linjala, who died on Thursday, June 24.
May God grant them eternal rest.
- NOTICE: Giving statements for the first six months of 2010 are available for you to pick up. They are in the box on the table in the entryway. Thank you!
- Thank you to those individuals who provided materials and/or their time to make the beautiful bags that will be sent with pastor as he travels to Tanzania.
- You will notice that one of our hymnals is covered with a brown African hymnal cover. The cover was donated to Trinity by Gary & Vicki Baldini. It was made in Africa and brought to the U.S. by our missionaries. This donation will put a tin roof on a hut.
- Pastor Kenneth will be on vacation from Tuesday, June 29 through July 4. Following pastor’s vacation, he will be traveling to Tanzania and will return on July 20. If you have an emergency during pastor’s absence, please call Pastor Warren Geier at Bethany Lutheran (486-4351) or his home (485-4218).
A listing of the pulpit supply and Holy Communion schedule will be listed in the July Tidings which will be mailed on Tuesday of this week.
- We have a new letter from our sponsor child, Daniuska. It is posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. Please take time to read the update from Daniuska!
- Please Note: Please do NOT put cardboard boxes into our dumpster outside. Waste Management will not pick these up. If you have cardboard boxes to be thrown away, leave them on the pew next to the card rack and Peter will take care of
disposing of them. Thank you!

| Trinity’s “Noisy Offering” |
| posted 7/1/10 |
A note about our “Noisy Offering.” During our “noisy offering” you may place your loose change into the bread pan. The third quarter Noisy Offering (July through September) has been designated to Northwoods AirLifeline. Thank you!
Northwoods AirLifeline is a non-profit organization of volunteer pilots from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northeast Wisconsin who donate their time and aircraft to help patients and their families with urgent medical needs for services not found locally. Since its founding in 1989, over 2,000 missions have been flown to destinations in lower Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Connecticut and Texas, all at no cost to the individual/family.
Northwoods AirLifeline helps meet the needs of individuals who are financially distressed, unable to travel by other means, or under severe time constraints. Many of the most urgent transports involve transplant cases, since there is no place in the Upper Peninsula where transplants are done and the window of opportunity to perform the procedure is small. They frequently receive transport requests from chronically ill people who cannot drive long distances or afford commercial flights to specialized medical facilities.
They also transport individuals beyond medical help who want only to be taken home to be with their families, a service not covered by insurance. Relatives of severely injured patients transferred out of the area may themselves need immediate transportation to be with their loved ones. These are among the many logistical gaps in medical care that Northwoods AirLifeline attempts to fill.
