Alas, dear Christ, the Dragon is here again. Alas, he is here; terror has seized me, and fear. Alas that I ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. Alas that his envy led me to envy too. I did not become like God; I was cast out of Paradise. Temper, sword, awhile, the heat of your flames and let me go again about the garden, entering with Christ, a thief from another tree.

Gregory of Nazianzus (330-389)

***********************************

“Give us, Lord, a humble, quiet, peaceable, patient, tender and charitable mind, and in all our thoughts, words, and deeds a taste of the Holy Spirit.

Give us, Lord, a lively faith, a firm hope, a fervent charity, a love of you. Take from us all lukewarmness in meditation, dullness in prayer.

Give us fervor and delight in thinking of you and your grace, your tender compassion towards us.

The things that we pray for, good Lord, give us grace to labour for: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

~ Thomas Moore (1478-1535)

  • It is with deep regret that after 8 years our wonderful organist/pianist, Diane Aquino-Perez, has submitted her resignation. Diane has many commitments with her work, her music at her own church on Saturday, and her upcoming wedding.

Diane, we thank you for your ministry to Trinity. We will miss you! Please join us on Sunday, May 29, at 10:30 for a thank you and farewell to Diane.

  • On May 29, we will have one service ONLY at 9:30 a.m. Our farewell party for Diane will follow at 10:30 a.m.

  • Sunday, June 5, is our Graduate Recognition Sunday. We will honor those graduating from high school and college.

  • Also Sunday, June 5, firefighters from Ishpeming will be here for their Fireman’s Memorial church service.

  • Our new organist is Jacob Bender. Jacob is a student at Michigan State majoring in Music Education and Trumpet Performance. Jacob will be our summer organist from June 5 until August 21.

  • We are happy to report that Riley Davis is now home from Afghanistan and is stationed back at her home base in Montana.

  • A huge THANK YOU goes out to everyone for their contributions to the “loan repayment.”  Our loan balance is now ZERO!  These funds were replaced in the Capital Improvement Fund enabling the payment of the new water heater for the fellowship hall.

  • Read the Highlights from the April 2011 Council Meeting.

  • Our “Love Offering” has been designated to go to Lutheran Disaster Relief for Japan.  Thank you for your generosity.

  • Information regarding our Sunday Radio Broadcast: We are always in need of individuals to sponsor our Sunday morning radio broadcasts. Our Sunday broadcasts cost $85 each Sunday. You can sign up on the entryway bulletin board. You can sign up as a memorial or in honor of an individual or group of individuals.

Also, PLEASE NOTE: You do not have to give the full $85 if that is too costly. You can give a portion of that amount. Also, if you have a certain Sunday that is sentimental to you (a loved ones birthday, etc.), and someone else has already signed up, you can still sign up! We can have multiple individuals that sponsor a Sunday broadcast.

If you have any questions, please talk with Pastor, Kris McDonnell, or Gail. You can also call the office or leave Gail a note if it is too difficult to sign up on the chart. Thank you!
